Diyala medicine holds a scientific symposium on tonsillitis

The College of Medicine at the University of Diyala held a scientific symposium on tonsillitis, in which Dr. Ali Lafta Salman lectured at the Continuing Education Hall. The symposium defined tonsillitis, which is inflammation of the tonsils, two oval-shaped pads of tissue in the back of the throat, where there is one tonsil on each side. Signs and symptoms of tonsillitis include swollen tonsils, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and pain in lymph nodes on both sides of the neck.
The symposium confirmed that most cases of tonsillitis occur due to infection with a common virus, but bacterial infection may cause tonsillitis as well. The symposium showed that the appropriate treatment for tonsillitis depends on the cause, so it is important to diagnose the condition quickly and accurately. Tonsillectomy, which was a common procedure for treating tonsillitis, is usually performed only when tonsillitis occurs frequently and the condition does not respond to other treatments or the inflammation causes serious complications. Indications of tonsillitis include: In the case of young children who are unable to describe what they feel like drooling due to difficulty swallowing or pain when swallowing refusal of food or unusual irritability.
