Diyala Medicine holds a scientific symposium on the causes of jaw joint disorder
The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Diyala held a scientific symposium on jaw joint disorder, in which Dr. Haider Mahdi Idan lectured in the continuing education hall.
The symposium knew the jaw joint, or the so-called temporomandibular joints. They are the two joints that connect the lower jaw bone to the skull. It is a bilateral synovial joint between the temporal bone of the skull and the lower jaw below, and from these bones its name is derived.
The symposium showed that the jaw joint differs from the rest of the body joints. It works in a double way, and the function is controlled through other factors such as the teeth, the neuromuscular system, and the movement of the joint.
The symposium emphasized the factors causing temporomandibular joint disorder, which are psychological factors, occlusal factors, injury, infections, genetic factors and tumors.
