The symposium defined poisoning in children as one of the important medical conditions at home and in the hospital that requires special attention for early diagnosis and treatment to avoid possible medical complications.
The symposium showed the types of poisoning in children, and the accidental poisoning is the most common type
The symposium reviewed the steps required for diagnosing cases of poisoning, starting from the child’s medical history, appropriate clinical examination, rapid conservative treatments, as well as conducting the necessary laboratory analyzes. Various treatment methods were also reviewed to reduce the absorption of the toxic substance, such as gastric lavage, the use of sorbents, anti-poisoning drugs, and other therapeutic methods.
