In University of Diyala/ College of Medicine, it holds a scientific symposium on the effect of some medications on fetal growth
Under the sponsorship of the Dean of College of Medicine at the University of Diyala, Professor Dr. Ismail Ibrahim Latif, the Continuing Education Division held a scientific symposium entitled (The effect of some medications on the early stages of fetal development), moderated by the assistant lecturer, Reham Saad Kazem. The symposium showed that the majority of pregnant women in the early stages of pregnancy take many medications without medical advice or before they know they are pregnant, and this negatively affects the growth of the fetus during the first three months, as the medications used by the pregnant woman reach the fetus mainly through crossing the placenta. This then leads to preeclampsia, miscarriages, or congenital malformations.
The symposium recommended the need to pay attention to this sensitive stage and take appropriate precautions for the mother and fetus.
