A scientific symposium on “Food contamination and its impact on humans” is held at College of Medicine/University of Diyala
The Continuing Education Division organized a scientific symposium titled “Food The contamination and its Impact on Humans” on Monday, November 20, 2023, under the guidance of Professor Dr. Ismail Ibrahim Latif, Dean of the College. Maisaa Ghani Taher, a lecturer in the department of pathology, gave a lecture at the symposium. An overview of the underlying causes of food poisoning, a medical condition brought on by consuming food contaminated with bacteria like salmonella or viruses like norovirus, was presented at the symposium. Eating contaminated food that contains dangerous bacteria, viruses, parasites, or chemicals that can cause more than 200 diseases is usually the cause of its severe and obvious symptoms that ranging from cancer to diarrhea according to World Health Organization research. At the end of the symposium, the speaker went over how selecting fresh foods and drinks, avoiding canned food as much as possible, and maintaining good cleanliness and food storage habits all contribute to the preservation and reduction of food pollution. Finally, we say “ prevention is worth a pound of cure”.
