A training course titled “Rationalizing energy consumption and reducing carbon emissions”
was held by College of Medicine at university of Diyala. The training course was supervised by Professor Dr. Ismail Ibrahim Latif, Dean of the College of Medicine. On Sunday, November 26, 2023, Professor Dr. Shihab Ahmed Shaker/department of family medicine, gave a lecture at the course that was organized by the Continuing Education Division in the college. An overview of the sources of carbon dioxide gas was addressed throughout the course, covering the naturally occurring sources, which include volcanoes, burning organic materials, forest fires, and the respiration processes of organisms. The carbon dioxide that is produced when fossil fuels are burned for transportation, heating, electricity production, and other purposes is one of the industrial sources. Upon finishing of the course, recommendations were made regarding the need to rationalize electrical energy consumption, reduce the loads in heating and cooling devices, reduce emissions from the use of coal, oil, and gas in energy production, switch to clean, alternative electrical energy sources like solar, wind, and water, and use economical devices like flashlights and other items.
