University of Diyala/ College of Medicine holds a scientific symposium entitled (Tuberculosis in Children).
Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Ismail Ibrahim Latif, the Continuing Education Division held a scientific symposium entitled (Tuberculosis in Children) delivered by Assistant Lecturer Saif Hakim Tawfiq from pediatric department. It included a definition of tuberculosis in children and the causes of the disease as a result of infection with bacteria called Mycobacterium, which attacks the lungs, and may infect other parts of the body, including the kidneys, brain, and spinal cord. Tuberculosis spreads mainly when people breathe air contaminated by a person with an active disease, and the methods for tuberculosis testing (Tuberculosis Test or TB Test) is a group of tests that help diagnose an individual with tuberculosis. There are two types of tests to detect tuberculosis: a blood test to detect tuberculosis, which is also called Interferon Gamma Release Assays or IGRAs and skin examination. In conclusion, it showed treatment methods using a group of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones and injectable medications, such as Amikacin or Capreomycin (Capastat). In addition, the diet plays an important role in maintaining the general health of people. There is a group of foods rich in many different vitamins such as A, C, and E. And some nutrients full of proteins.
