Diyala College of Medicine holds a scientific symposium on the role of criminal law in criminalizing the phenomenon of drugs in Iraqi law and Islamic jurisprudence
Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Diyala, Professor Dr. Ismail Ibrahim Latif.. The College of Medicine at the University of Diyala held a scientific symposium on (The role of criminal law in criminalizing the phenomenon of drugs in Iraqi law and Islamic jurisprudence) delivered by the legal presenter Muhammad Majeed Amara.
The symposium aimed to define drugs. Iraqi law defines the types of prohibited drugs and the penalties imposed on their possession or circulation, including the death penalty, imprisonment and fines, and varies according to the type of drug and the amount of possession. It also showed the visions of Islamic jurisprudence towards prohibiting drugs, as Islamic jurisprudence considers drugs to be forbidden, and their serious harm to the soul and society, and Islamic jurisprudence focuses on awareness and prevention of drug abuse, while emphasizing the importance of treatment and rehabilitation.
For his part, the Dean of the College presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to the lecturer for his distinguished efforts in organizing the symposium, as the symposium was successful, useful, and full of important information and insights on a very important topic. We believe that awareness and education are the basic steps to achieve positive change in society towards this deadly phenomenon.
