A scientific symposium was held at the College of Medicine in Diyala on developments in the treatment of arterial hypertension

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Diyala, Professor Ismail Ibrahim Latif, the Department of Internal Medicine organized a scientific symposium entitled “Modern Treatment of Arterial Hypertension.” The symposium was delivered by Professor Ahmed Madb Adhab Al-Masari, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, in collaboration with the Lebanese company Penta Pharma.
The symposium included a review of the latest scientific and medical developments in the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension, a common chronic disease whose complications can lead to heart, kidney, and brain diseases. If neglected, it can lead to serious, life-threatening complications.
During the symposium, the lecturer emphasized the importance of conducting regular blood pressure checks and laboratory tests to identify secondary causes of the disease. He emphasized the need to choose appropriate drug therapy that ensures 24-hour control of blood pressure and achieves safe, normal levels.
Dr. Al-Masari also recommended focusing on non-drug treatments, such as regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding obesity, avoiding smoking and alcohol, reducing fat consumption, and increasing the consumption of fruits and vegetables, as these have a significant impact on improving blood pressure and preventing its complications.
At the conclusion of the symposium, the importance of community health awareness and promoting early screening for high blood pressure was emphasized as a fundamental step toward a healthier and more stable society.
