Diyala Medicine holds a scientific symposium on bleeding disorders for new-borns

The Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the College of Medicine at the University of Diyala held a scientific symposium on bleeding disorders for new-born babies, in which Dr. Zahraa Najah Mahdi lectured in the conference room.

The symposium dealt with the issue of bleeding disorders for newborns. It started with a simple definition of the defect in the coagulation system and coagulation factors, and then dealt with its most important causes and its genetic and acquired types. Then it was focused on the most common genetic type, which is haemophilia, which affects males without females, and the most prominent symptoms and characteristics that accompany a child with haemophilia, how to diagnose it, the possibility of treating it, and reducing the complications of the disease for the infected person. The symposium concluded with a brief overview of the acquired types and the most common types among newborns represented by vitamin deficiency, how to diagnose deficiency and treat it, and how to protect newborn babies. By following preventive methods, it prevents the occurrence of haemorrhagic diseases in children.
