Second Day of Sustainable Development Week: President of the University of Diyala Commends the College of Medicine and Its Dean for Their Distinguished Participation at the Forefront of Activities

The University of Diyala continues, for the second consecutive day, its Sustainable Development Week activities under the patronage and attendance of the University President, Professor Dr. Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, with the participation of the Administrative Assistant to the President, Professor Dr. Haider Shakir Muzhir, along with a number of college deans, including the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Ismail Ibrahim Latif, amid broad academic and student attendance.
The second day’s program marked the inauguration of the Second Central Sustainable Development Festival, with participation from all university branches. The College of Medicine provides different health services, including free specialized clinics, laboratory examinations, nutritional consultations, and educational initiatives that highlight the interrelationship between human health and the environment.
The University President praised the active participation of the College of Medicine, affirming that its initiatives reflect the university’s commitment to community service and embody the role of academic institutions in transforming knowledge into practical impact that benefits citizens.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Medicine stated that the college’s participation is fully aligned with its scientific and humanitarian mission, as well as its commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance health awareness and consolidate the principles of sustainability and community service.
The activities also included scientific exhibitions, specialized workshops, environmental and programming competitions aimed at promoting a culture of sustainability, fostering students’ spirit of innovation, and supporting promising student projects.
These activities are consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 concerning good health and well-being, Goal 4 on quality education, Goal 9 related to innovation, and Goal 17 concerning partnerships and institutional cooperation.
