Diyala College of Medicine Council Holds Regular Meeting
The Council of the College of Medicine at the University of Diyala held its regular meeting, chaired by the Dean, Professor Dr. Ismail Ibrahim, and attended by the heads of the various scientific departments. The meeting addressed a range of academic, administrative, and scientific matters included on the agenda.
The Dean opened the session by welcoming the Council members, emphasizing the importance of continued, diligent collaboration among the scientific departments to enhance the College’s academic and administrative performance, particularly in the field of medical education.
The Council discussed the admission of new first-year students and the necessary preparations to ensure a smooth and efficient enrollment process. They also reviewed the College’s educational capacity in relation to student intake and available resources.
Furthermore, the Council reviewed directives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding student transfers and hosting arrangements. This included the authorization granted to universities to handle requests based on humanitarian grounds—facilitating transfers between institutions while considering individual circumstances—in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.
The meeting also addressed executive directives from the Ministry of Higher Education, decisions issued by the Ministry’s academic authorities, and guidance from the University Council. Discussions focused on implementing these directives in a manner that aligns with the requirements for advancing the educational process and improving institutional performance.
In the same context, the Council examined the role of scientific departments in supporting researchers and the positive impact this has on the College’s overall scientific trajectory. Additionally, the Council discussed the status of the teaching hospital and requirements for its further development, as well as the monitoring of student performance across all academic stages, with the aim of ensuring high levels of scientific competence and enhancing the quality of medical education graduates. The Council continues its deliberation on the remaining items on its agenda, drawing upon the necessary expertise and recommendations derived from specialized academic and educational conferences.
This partnership is established as part of the College of Medicine in Diyala’s commitment to advancing high-quality medical education—both academically and administratively—in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals.
